Firing
Stoneware, twice fired

Everything we make to order is made by hand in our studio in Ras Al Khaimah — thrown or built, glazed, and fired twice in our own kiln. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is bought in and rebranded. That is the reason lead times are measured in weeks rather than days, and it is also the reason the pieces look like they were made by a person.

What we make

How a commission works

We start with a conversation about what the piece needs to do — how it will be held, what goes in it, how many you need and when. From there we make a sample. You see it, hold it, and tell us what is wrong with it, and we adjust. Only once you approve that sample does production begin, and the one-month lead time starts from that point.

For hospitality clients we also test for the things that only show up in service: whether a handle survives a busy pass, how a glaze holds up in a commercial dishwasher, whether cups stack. Those tests happen before we produce hundreds of anything.

Working with clay as a material

Handmade stoneware carries small variations — in glaze depth, in the way a rim catches light, in weight. This is not a defect and it is the reason people choose handmade over factory production, but it does mean that if you need three hundred objects that are indistinguishable from one another, industrial manufacture is the honest answer and we will tell you so. What we can promise is consistency of character across a run, and we show you the tolerance on the sample.

Corporate gifting

Gift sets are one of our most requested commissions, particularly around national occasions and end-of-year appreciation. We can incorporate a logo or a name discreetly, package in branded boxes, and deliver across the UAE. Because these are usually tied to a fixed date, the earlier the conversation starts the better — four to six weeks ahead is comfortable, two weeks is tight.

Common questions

What is the minimum order for bespoke ceramics?

It depends on the piece. A set of mugs for a home is very different from a service for a café, so we quote per project rather than holding one blanket minimum. Tell us roughly what you need, how many and when you need them, and we will come back with whether it works and what it would cost.

How long does a bespoke ceramics order take?

Lead time is one month from sample approval for most orders, and longer for large hospitality runs. Before that clock starts there is a consultation and a sample round, which typically adds two to three weeks. Every piece is made and fired by hand in Ras Al Khaimah, and stoneware cannot be rushed — pieces must dry slowly, then go through two firings. We give you a dated schedule once the sample is signed off.

Can you match a specific colour or an existing brand palette?

In most cases yes. Glaze is chemistry rather than paint, so we work toward a colour through test tiles fired in our own kiln, and we show you those tiles before production. Some colours are straightforward and some are genuinely difficult at stoneware temperature — we will tell you which category yours falls into at the consultation rather than after you have committed.

Do you make pieces for cafés, hotels and restaurants?

Yes, this is a significant part of what we do. We have produced service ware for hospitality clients including matched sets of cups, pour-over drippers, plates and serving pieces. Hospitality work needs consistency across a run and durability in a commercial dishwasher, so we test for both before production begins. Message us with your covers, your menu and any pieces you already use.
